PRESS RELEASE 2017:

The “Overseas Bihar Association” (OBA) is a non-commercial socio-cultural organization of Indians established in May, 2012 to promote Indian Culture through its various activities.  The decision to establish OBA was taken with intent of paying tribute to the people of one of the culturally rich states of India – Bihar, which in many ways contributed to India and Society at large.  Immediately upon its formation, OBA celebrated 100 years of the foundation of Bihar in Moscow, Russia in 2012.

 

This year also OBA is going to organize a Mega musical concert on 29th July, 2017 with live performance by Bollywood playback singers SONA MOHAPATRA and NEERAJ SHRIDHAR with the support of Embassy of India, Moscow, Russia. This concert is dedicated to the celebration of 70th year of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Russia. The Ambassador of India Mr Pankaj Saran will be the Chief Guest on the occasion   apart from the Ambassadors of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal and other Indian and Russian dignitaries.

 

This year we are also felicitating Mr Anand Kumar of SUPER 30 from Patna, Bihar for his contribution to the education of the poor.

 

The major milestone and the much talked about OBA was the successful celebration of the foundation of the Indian State Bihar as “100 years of Bihar” was organized by OBA on 28th July, 2012 as Bihar Divas in Moscow featuring Concert by famous Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik. Former Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, Shri Ajai Malhotra was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

Another milestone of OBA was the celebration of its anniversary on 10th of August 2013 with the Live Mega Concert by world famous and legendary Indian Bollywood artist Sonu Nigam and his Musical Band in the prestigious Crocus City Hall, Moscow. Former Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, Shri Ajai Malhotra again obliged us by attending the Concert as Chief Guest. Ambassadors of Nepal, Bangladesh and Mauritius and other Russian guests were also present during the celebration.

OBA was congratulated for the celebration and involvement of all Indian communities for the hard work in bringing together all members of the community, while organizing such events.

Such Mega live Concert of cultural extravaganza is going to be organized third time this year by OBA in Moscow. OBA hopes to continue to organize such events in future also to bring together all the people through cultural interaction.

PRESS RELEASE 2013:

The “Overseas Bihar Association (OBA),” Moscow, Russia with the support of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre (JNCC) ,  Embassy of India, Moscow, Russia, celebrated  foundation of OBA  in Moscow on August 10, 2013 with the live   performances by world famous Bollywood singer  SONU NIGAM. Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, HE Mr.Ajai Malhotra, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ambassadors of Nepal, Bangladesh and Mauritius and others  were also present during the celebration .

 

Addressing the gathering Ambassador HE Mr.Ajai Malhotra congratulated OBA for the celebration and involvement of all Indian communities .He congratulated the President  and the office bearers of the “Overseas Bihar Association,( OBA ) ,Moscow”, for the  hard work  in bringing together all members of the Indian community ,while organizing such  events. He conveyed his greetings and good wishes to everyone on the occasion.

 

The highlight of the evening was the live concert and thrilling performances by the well known and popular  Bollywood playback singer  SONU NIGAM with his large band with female singer Jonita Gandhi, besides dance performance by Russian dance group Amrapali  , performances by  the children of the Embassy of India School and Kids club ,Moscow.

 

The actual  celebration started  sometime back  on 3rd August ,2013 with the   organization of Indian Food Competition “TEMPTATION 2013”  with the support of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow,- amongst members of the Indian community in Moscow. H.E. Mrs Ira Malhotra, wife of the Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation and President IWA (Indian Women’s Association), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. While inaugurating the contest, the Chief Guests said that she is very happy to note that this year there are lots of participants and   more  more  people are involved. She appreciated the hard work and the presentations made by the participants while making a round of the tables and talking with the contestants. There were altogether 50 participants. The judges were selected through lottery in each category and one expert in each category was from the Management of Indian Restaurants located n Moscow.  The winners were given away fabulous prizes by the Chief Guest.  First prize was 3 night stay in 5 star hotel in Delhi , India ,2nd prize was a mini i-pad and third prize – a digital photo frame. She congratulated OBA for the grand success of this competition.

 

Such Mega live Concert of cultural extravaganza has been organized second time by OBA in Moscow and Indian Diaspora has congratulated the OBA, Russia for this super event ,which was never before on such a scale. OBA hopes continue to organize such events in future also to bring together all the people through cultural interaction.

PRESS RELEASE OF BIHAR DIVAS:

The “Overseas Bihar Association (OBA),” Moscow ,Russia with the support of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre (JNCC) ,  Embassy of India, Moscow, Russia, celebrated  100 years of the foundation of the  Indian State of Bihar in Moscow on July 28, 2012. Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, HE Mr.Ajai Malhotra, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ambassadors of Nepal ,Sri Lanka were also present during the celebration apart from Mr Elfimov Igor ,Deputy Governor  of Yaroslavl Region,Russia and   Mr Shutov Alexander – Director of Department for Economic Development of Yaroslavl Region,Russia.

 

Addressing the gathering Ambassador HE Mr.Ajai Malhotra recalled Bihar’s illustrious history as a centre of learning and culture, its rich heritage as a land of religions, as well as the warm, traditional welcome that the people of Bihar are known to extend to guests. He congratulated the President, Anjani Kumar Das, and the office bearers of the “Overseas Bihar Association,( OBA ) ,Moscow”, for the work it was doing as a new Indian association in Russia in bringing together all members of the Indian community while organizing such celebrations. He conveyed his greetings and good wishes to everyone on the happy occasion.

 

The highlight of the evening was a concert by the well known and popular  Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik, as also by Chetan Rana ,First prize winner of the Reality Show K for Kishore  of the Sony  Television Entertainment  Pvt Ltd  and Bhojpuri singer Devi Verma, besides dance performances by Russian dance troupes , presentations  about Bihar through anthem of Bihar ‘Bihar Gaan” by  the children of the Embassy of India School and Kids club ,Moscow  etc. There were also stalls offering a variety of Bihari delicacies, handicrafts such as Madhubani and Mithila paintings, and numerous other attractions.

 

Prizes were also given away  by the Ambassador to the winners of various competitions conducted by the Embassy of India School,Kids Club ,Moscow with the collaboration of  “Overseas Bihar Association, (OBA)  Moscow” as part of the “Bihar Divas” festivities. Yatra.com also sponsored the prizes of 3 night stay in 3 or 4* hotel in Golden Triangle-Delhi-Agra-Jaipur for the winners of Food Competition “TEMPTATION” held  earlier as a part of the celebration.

 

Such  Gala Concert of cultural extravaganza has been organised first time in Moscow and Indian diaspora has congratulated the OBA,Russia for this  super event . Hope OBA will continue to organise such events in future also to bring together all the people through cultural interaction.

 

 

BIHAR DIVAS IN MOSCOW:

 

The “Overseas Bihar Association, Moscow”, with the support of the Embassy of India, Moscow, and its Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, celebrated the centenary of the Indian State of Bihar in Moscow on July 28, 2012. H.E. Mr. Ajai Malhotra, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering Ambassador Malhotra recalled Bihar’s illustrious history as a centre of learning and culture, its rich architectural and religious heritage, as well as the traditionally warm welcome that the people of Bihar are known to extend to their guests. He commended the association President (Shri Anjani Kumar Das) and its office bearers for their work in bringing together all members of the Indian community in Russia while organizing such a celebration. He also conveyed his greetings and good wishes on the happy occasion of the centenary of the Indian State of Bihar. The highlight of the evening was a concert in which the reputed singer Alka Yagnik kept the large audience spellbound with her superb rendition of popular Bollywood numbers. The well known singer Chetan Rana and Bhojpuri singer Devi Verma also presented a variety of songs on the occasion, which also witnessed performances by Russian dance troupes from Moscow and Tver, presentations about Bihar prepared by children of the Embassy of India School, Moscow, etc. Stalls were also set up offering a variety of Bihari delicacies, handicrafts such as Madhubani and Mithila paintings, and numerous other attractions. Ambassador Malhotra also presented prizes during the event to the winners of elocution, cooking, and other competitions organised earlier by “Overseas Bihar Association, Moscow” as part of the “Bihar Divas” festivities.
